Cannot connect to domain to look up service [coreservices/DomainConfigurationService]

Cannot connect to domain to look up service

Cannot connect to domain to look up service

This is one of the common issues when the PowerCenter is installed on local computers compared to the real time project specific installations. In most of the real time project specific installations the servers are dedicated to run only Informatica Services.

This issue occurs when one of the following conditions:

  • The server port is not open. This will not be the usual case in the personal computer. If it is then it would have occurred during the installation process.
  • Server host is not accessible from the client machine. On a personal computer both the client and server are installed in the same machine.
  • The host name of the server cannot be resolved from the client machine. Same as above. On a personal computer both the client and server are installed in the same machine.

How to resolve this issue?

Option 1:

Make sure there are no other services running except Oracle (or the repository database services) and Informatica services to start with. Once the Informatica connections work, you can start the other required services.

Option 2:

If this does not work, restart the PC. Go to the Services window (form Control Panel) and start only the Oracle and Informatica services.

Refer to this Informatica KB for more information on this issue.
