Informatica Power Center Upgrade Strategies

Informatica Power Center Upgrade

Informatica Power Center Upgrade

Informatica upgrades are usually done in three different ways. Well, instead of calling them ways, let’s call them as options, which will suite one’s environment during the upgrade.

In Place Approach

This approach is to use the same server on which the current version is operational with the regular scheduled and ad-hoc jobs are being run or executed. This is the process of leveraging the installer or the application service wizard upgrading the original metadata without providing a parallel environment.

Parallel Approach

The current infrastructure or the setup is left as is for day to day operations. This is the process of installing a fresh copy of the server and taking a snapshot of your ETL repository environment and upgrading the snapshot.

Parallel Upgrade

Cloned Approach

This is the process of taking a snapshot of your domain and upgrading the domain snapshot using the Informatica 9.x installer.
