PMCMD Commands In Informatica

Informatica provides multiple built-in command line programs or utilities to interact with its services and features. The best place to start with any command related question is the Informatica help document. The help document provides the description of the command, available properties which needs to be used and what are the optional and mandatory properties for a command.

Here are four important commands which are required.

  • infacmd – to access the Informatica application services.
  • infasetup – to complete installation tasks such as defining a node or a domain
  • pmcmd –  to manage workflows. Start, stop, schedule, and monitor workflows
  • pmrep –  to complete repository administration tasks such as listing repository objects, creating and editing groups, and restoring and deleting repositories.

**These are specific to Informatica Power Center. There are different commands available for Informatica Data Quality and other products**

In this post we focus primarily on the pmcmd command. The pmcmd is a command line utility provided by the Informatica to perform and automate these basic tasks

  • Schedule the workflows
  • Start workflows
  • Start workflow from a specific task
  • Stop, Abort workflows and Sessions

Here is how to use PMCMD command:

To scheduling the workflow :

pmcmd scheduleworkflow -service informatica-integration-Service -d domain-name -u user-name -p password -f folder-name -w workflow-name

Please not that you cannot specify the scheduling options here. This command is only to schedule the workflow for the next run.

To start the workflow :

pmcmd startworkflow -service informatica-integration-Service -d domain-name -u user-name -p password -f folder-name -w workflow-name

To start workflow from a specific task :

pmcmd startask -service informatica-integration-Service -d domain-name -u user-name -p password -f folder-name -w workflow-name -startfrom task-name

To stop the workflow :

pmcmd stopworkflow -service informatica-integration-Service -d domain-name -u user-name -p password -f folder-name -w workflow-name

To stop a task in the workflow :

pmcmd stoptask -service informatica-integration-Service -d domain-name -u user-name -p password -f folder-name -w workflow-name task-name

To abort a workflow :

pmcmd abortworkflow -service informatica-integration-Service -d domain-name -u user-name -p password -f folder-name -w workflow-name

To abort a task:

pmcmd aborttask -service informatica-integration-Service -d domain-name -u user-name -p password -f folder-name -w workflow-name task-name
